While perusing the local parts for sale adds, came across this near mint Firestone super sports F70-14” Wide Oval tire mounted on a factory 14” Ford rim. $60... I think he mentioned it came out of a ‘70 cougar, I would have to verify the paint daubs on the rim. Amazingly,

it was for sale here In Niagara Falls... Didn’t waste any time scooping this up. My ‘71 J Code was missing its spare tire when I got it, so this is a nice fill in. It will never be used, but certainly looks good in the trunk. Keeping checking the local parts for sale adds, you never know what will pop up..

Great piece to have and will make the trunk look right.

I bought a crashed mustang 72 that the spare had never been used also. I had it in my 73 vert but took it out and got new set of Cooper radials. I did not want to use the spare.

Paint marks on it were different that these I do not have a pic. It was a narrow Firestone white wall F-70 X 14".

Great score!
Nice find! Good price. My 73 had 14 x 5 1/2 inch trims with those paint mark's.

My ‘73 Vert has this E70-14” BF Goodrich spare in it (Car came with the aluminum rim upgrade). The tire is not in as good shape as this F70-14” Firestone, but the rim was still in perfect shape(no rust).

I cleaned up the rim and repainted (not the original factory paint daubs :) ) Yes, that is also the original factory spare tire decal that I re-applied after the restoration was complete. The Tuscon, AZ heat was so intense, it melted/fried to a crisp... all the glue and the label was easy to remove in one piece. I know the reproduction labels are no where near as accurate for the '71 Model year's (too generic across the board), so I was happy to save this original piece of paper...
