During this past weekend, I was inspecting my, purchased from another mustang, replacement original seat platforms. I knew there were reproductions out there. So, too maybe save a little time, I started to research the new ones. I printed out the picture of the reproduction platform, compared the next to the originals and really did not like what I saw. Anybody out there have any experience with the reproduction seat platforms?

They do make them. You have to make minor modifications for FB. I have them in mine and seem to be ok. They do not look like the orginals, the metal needs to be sanded and primed once you get them since there is no coating, but under your carpet you cannot tell the difference. I will see if I can take some pictures on Friday when I drive out to the bodyshop. BTW I got mine from NPD, but I think CJ Pony has them also.

Now that I think of it, I think Don at OMS sent me the orginal info. Great way to take care of a customer even when it means sending you to another company!

Here they are from NPD.

Interesting! So, there are two different original seat platforms? One for the coupes and one one for the fastback. This would make sense since the fastback roof line would be lower than that coupes roof line. I will need to check to see how the original coupe seat platforms match up to the purchased seat platforms that I have.

When they were first advertized by NPD

They were advertized as fastback

I finally tracked down the manufacturer - who said they were for a fastback, when I got some in.

They are for a COUPE to tall for a fastback

Yes they will fit but are taller

I contacted the manufacturer even sent them a MINT

set of fastback ones - still nothing for a fastback

AND the big boys still say for all models.

Manufacturer says coupe

Thank you OMS for the information. It is really disappointing to see vendors not put the extra effort in the reproduction parts. One of my biggest grips is the reproduction window outside felt strips.

Why the beltline w-strips are pretty decent

Hello OMS,

I had installed some of the repop windows felt, inner and outer, for my 1973 coupe and after approx. 2.5 years, I had to replace them because they were brittle and cracking. Also, I have had to replace the fuel tube to trunk seal 3 times due to drying out and cracking. I have some one seal that is original that is better shape than what I have used. Sorry for the grip! Maybe the newer stuff made today is better? What are your thoughts since you a major vendor for mustangs? Are the rubber parts better? Do they have the UV protection?

Thank You

Mine were shot, so I ordered a set of the repops from CJPP (coupe, not FB as advertised), and wound up just cutting mine down about an inch or so (since I was welding in new floors and platforms anyway). Had to do some minor deconstruction to make it happen, but they work just fine now.

i too got a set welded them in and not that happy,on top of that the scat seat brackets didnt fit good either, aftermarket parts suck.

Will, there is a third platform version for the convertible

It is smaller to clear the inner rocker.

Don at Ohio Mustang Supply. Another example of Don taking care of us!

I really appreciate it and I know many others do too!

DSCF0002 (5).JPGDSCF0004 (4).JPGI ordered one from CJ Pony back in Nov 2010. Installed it in my '71 FB with no mods needed. Part # M432R RH CP/FB @ $81.95. Worked out just great. (passenger side)

Are they available? I plan on adding convertible inner rocker braces to my coupe and was going to have to cut the seat riser to fit.

Hello 71STANG351C,

Thank You for the pictures. I had to go back and review the post to see about the question of fit. We believe that there are three different seat pans due to the fastback, coupe, and convertibles. This due to the roof height and inner rocker panel support, convertible. The discussion post by OMS stated that the reproduction seat platforms were for the coupes. The manufacture, per OMS, stated that they were for all mustang body styles. OMS has reached out to the manufacture telling them that this was incorrect. Well, it go to see a reproduction part fit as it should.

Ohio Mustang Supply- We appreciate your business and expertise that you bring to the mustang world.
