It was a great car, but it's gone now! :D

2000 Ford Escort ZX2 Bought in 2006 with 61K miles for $5000 Cash

-Doubled the mileage I was getting from my F-150, so It paid for itself in 1 year in gas savings.

-2012 - Hit by another driver, $3200 total loss payment and I got to keep the car. $400 in parts to pass inspection.

-Today - Sold it for $1300 with 173K miles on it!

Total cash outlay -$5400

Total cash return - $5600

Total miles driven at approx. 30 MPG -112,000

I bought a similar one for the wife 6 yrs ago , she drove it 2 yrs , water pump started leaking , after looking to see how bad it would be to put pump in , discovered the unibody that was perfect when we bought it , was rusted beyond inspection , sold it for $750 for parts .

I have an 01 zx2. Awesome car. Bought it 2 years ago with 0 rust and really nice fully loaded. Bought it off CL for $500. Guy told me the motor was blown up. He was going to scrap it. I brought it home and messed with it, was gonna pull motor. Got checking around and all it needed was a timing belt. $35 and I have been driving it ever since.

Last year a lady pulled out in front of me and SMASH! Her insurance totaled my car. They gave me $3800 for it. I bought it back from insurance for $400 and put $250 into parts to get it on the road. Its been a good car and saves me a lot of gas over my F150. They are good little cars, but are susceptible to rust in the rockers and uni-body frame rail.
