I hate Jersey winters and its not a matter of if I'm going to leave, its when !!!

I was born and raised in NJ. Raised my four kids there. NJ has a lot of great places to go within a short ride on a sunny in a Mustang, from the jersey shore to the delaware water gap, to Philadephia and  NYC. I left five years ago, but I did not go south far enough to get away from the lousy winters.

I'm in eastern PA, been here all of my 54 years. There is a lot of great history here and all kinds of interesting places within a short drive. This winter has been annoying to say the least, and we are waiting for hopefully the last Nor'easter of the winter season. I was just thinking about all of the months each year we spend waiting for nice weather. Multiply that times X number of years and it's a lot of wasted time. Not ready to uproot the family and move to a warmer climate, with a special needs son who is tied into all of the available local resources. Hopefully the real spring weather gets here soon. The problem is that there is very little nice spring weather and then we're into 90 degrees and high humidity, which also tends to keep one inside with the AC running. The past few winters we used to get a 55 degree break every so often, but there were none this year that I can recall. We had one freak day close to a month ago where it was 78 degrees, and that made things worse when the winter weather came back. I have a car I bought that is in storage in Austin TX for the past few months, and I won't have it shipped here until this weather is gone. Don't want to drive it off of the transport into snow! End of rant... hehe

well so far, 4 trees uprooted.. one a 70ft pine and about 30' of the top of another.. total 5 now. loaded up garage with firewood in case of power failure. i'm waiting on a price to remove 14 TALL pines that if they fell my neighbor would not be happy.. sure wish he'd built the house on the other side of his land..

i stopped by a rental place to price a 14" chopper for a few days... ouch $$$$$

I ordered my original 72 Mach and picked up the first day of spring from dealership in Newton, NJ. Moved that summer to Saylorsburg PA and raised a family till we moved again in 96. Wasn't the winters for the moves as much for work at the times, but looking back winters really suck and there wasn't much to do Nov. to Apr. Looking out the window at the snow this morning, should have moved more south this last time. It looks to be a late car spring.

Condit Motors in Newton. I live in Hardyston Township (Sparta) about 15 minutes from there. I also have a 1930 Model A that I traced back to Condit Ford sold as a used car to a gentleman I knew, in 1947 !!! How cool.... I am 55 and looking at retirement in 5 or 6 years and am definitely moving SOUTH to a warmer climate for sure.

I had to scrape the frost off my windshield twice this winter, it was awful!    I left Connecticut 29 years ago and don't miss the winter or the humidity one bit. San Diego the best weather on the planet.

Definitely the best weather. Certainly have other issues there with wildfires, drought, earthquake risk, mudslides, Jerry Brown :huh: , but that's just my opinion. My son is finishing up college and has his sights set on going the So Cal to start his new career. His Mom not happy with him moving so far away.

Yes the biggest problem with California is Jerry Brown no doubt!!!!! Wild fires no fun ether.  Droughts, if Jerry would build some reservoirs instead of some stupid train that no one will ever use. Earthquakes no big deal down hear in San Diego. Hurricanes and tornado's no thanks.

I hope your sons  career makes big money. It's very expensive to live here.  Thanks Jerry Brown!!!

LOL, I had to travel to Michigan and Wisconsin a lot doing tooling work for autos so I got to experience the snow burying the mail box. Having to keep the snow off your section of the sidewalk sucks for sure much less keeping your drive clear.

I live in the middle of the US, North Carolina in the western part. Yes we get a little snow but only a couple times a year and lots of sun. In fact there are lots of green houses her because they picked the area with the most sun and mildest winters. They save on the heat and cooling costs to hit the happy median spot. They say we have more sunshine that some of the islands in the gulf.

My garage does not have a heat system and just a 1,800 watt heater keeps if above freezing all the time and comfortable to work in most of the time. I also have a propane heater for single digit nights that are very few.

We have lots of people from both the north and the south. The Floridiots show up in spring and leave at first frost. The northern yankees just come and never leave, lol.

It has ran the land and home prices way up here from what they use to be. There is 35 acres across the road from me for $35,000 per acre if you buy the whole track, will not split up. My home and 1.5 acres cost $800 when my parents bought it.

We do have ski slopes still open and one hour away and three to four hours puts you at the beach. I can be on a mile high mountain in a couple hours so a pretty good place to call home.

They have cruise nights all spring and summer and lots of car related things to do here. Seems I always forget the Mustang club meetings each month. You never have any time when you retire.

Going to head to the Mustang Museum in Charlotte in April for my first show.

NJ and home prices and later taxes made it near impossible in the 70's for the younger folks to start out. So we keep moving west. It was surprising after moving 3 times that later too find out that you know your neighbor from NJ 50 years ago when we were all kids..
