Tail lights - blacked out chrome or not

Just reading through this post and have included my best pic of a blackened tail light.

Droptop could you post a close up of you taillights. I ordered some from NPD and they are the bright finish. Am going to have to paint mine.

NPD is not what they used to be in my opinion. Use 3M fine line tape, etching primer (Dupli-Color), Krylon 1613 semi-gloss black, super clean surface, and a LOT of patience. It will work but it requires time, precision, and patience (I've done two sets this way).

When I did mine just the lenses were masked on the inside. The only bright is the outside ring.

My plan is to repaint them in the same Charcoal gray used on the hood and tail panel.
