Pulled the trigger last night on the whole kit from American Powertrain. Had to have several drinks after that purchase! Now that the hard part is done I'm starting to get excited! I'll also be doing a quickfuel 750 slayer carb, blue thunder intake, new timing chain with standard gear set and FPA headers. Might have to throw a mild street cam while the intake is off while doing the timing chain. I'm expecting her to run pretty nice after all that....damn rabbit hole!

I suspect it wasn't cheap. The 600 adds a bit more money vs the 500 in supporting hardware required. But it should be great once it's all done and running. Just take it easy and follow the transmission break-in procedures to the letter and it will be a very good transmission. The ones who bolt them in and immediately go to the track or start hot dogging it, are the first ones to complain about shift quality.

The camshaft is another rabbit hole of supporting valvetrain mods.

That is exciting! I am looking forward to the installation thread. I can't imagine the smile on your face the first time you take it out for a spin. (and the second time, and the third time and the...)

Nice. I am planning the same. What rear gear are you going to run with it?

Good luck. I am very interested on how it goes. Was your car manual to start with or auto?

The car is currently a 4 speed manual.

She already has 3:89's. I'm sure I'll be happy with that for a while. I'm told by American Powertrain that with my tire height (26.8") and gear ratio (3.89) I can do 70MPH at 2000-2200RPM in 5th gear!
