Replacing the trans cooling lines on my C4 302.

I have the radiator, alternator, starter and fan removed. I managed to get one of them out through the grill opening, the one that is the furthest aft connection on the trans and goes to the lower fitting in the radiator. I compared it the new one and I must have opened up some of the bends slightly pulling it out because the new one has sharper bends. I think I can deal with, ("adjust") those on re assembly.

The other one is not as easy, it comes out so far and hangs up. I don't have the car on jack stands yet at this time.

It looks like I may have to remove the p/s motor mount.

Any thoughts on this?

Get it up in the air on some good quality jack stands. That will make things much easier. With your radiator and everything else out of the way, that also makes it easier to snake it in place.

I got tired of messing with mine when I would pull the motor so I ended up cutting mine in half and put a compression fitting union on them. They are really eàsy to get out now and the compression fitting can be used over and over without łeaks. I cut mine right around motor mount area.

I had thought of that myself, but now it's a challenge! I am going to remove the p/s motor mount and see how that goes. Plan "B" will be the cutting and fitting route. Thank you for your input................

Update......Removed the p/s mount and had to jack the engine about 1-2" to get the mount out. Put the lines in place reinstalled the mount and lowered the engine.

Tomorrow I connect the lines on the trans which should be another challenge because naturally the lines don't really line up with the trans fittings that well and cross threading is a possibility.

FYI, if I ever do this again, I'll go your route with compression fittings.

Like I said, this was a challenge..................:wrench:
