My Car
1973 Mach 1, 351 cleveland cobra jet engine. Gold glow, ginger interior. Long tube headers. completely rebuilt engine. Forged piston, roller rockers. lifters. Comp cams. Edelbrook carb and intake. Trush mufflers stainless steele custom exhaust. Added air conditioning, SSBC disc brakes. Rebuilt transmittion. pretty much anything you can do and a BUNCH of body work, functional not cosmetic.
I want to put an AOD transmission on my car. any suggestions.

I was looking at them also but I ended up buying my AOD with another 351C already attached, both had already been gone through. I ended up buying another valve body, TCI and the car shifts hard on the 3-4 shift which I dont like. I'm running 4.11 gears but the car still seems dogish 1-3 just when putting around town. Also need to work on the back up lights as I never got them working.

What about the 4R70W? These guys might even have a crossmember and a way to attach?

Remember that the AODE and 4R70W are electronically controlled transmissions. You will need a brain kit like the baumanator with speed sensor, throttle position sensor, etc. They are $600-700 in addition to the transmission cost.

Best combination is the AOD with the 4R70W gearset interchanged. This will give you a wide ratio gearset (lower ratio 1st gear) to help our heavy cars get moving easier. (Read: Easier burn outs!)
