Water temp sensor

Can I install a mechanical gauge temp sensor in the hole? It is where the temperature controlled vacuum port normally goes. I want to use both stock and mechanical gauges.

That's what I did too except I connected the idiot light sensor there as it is a slightly lower temp off the water pump. The mechanical gauge was connected at the old electronic (original) port for full temp. Using a stock electronic gauge in the water pump port will give a slightly lower temp, but I'd want my primary gauge to read accurately.
