Which carburetor on 72 4V CJ

Let the discussion begin because I'm finding conflicting info on which is the factory installed carb. Anybody have difinitive info?

According to my sources ("The Mustang and Cougar Tagbook" and "Mustang 1964 1/2 - 1973 Restoration Guide"), the correct PART Number for a 1972 Mustang with 4V (CJ) and automatic transmission is D2ZZ-9510B.

The ID Number is D2ZF-BA.

I have found that sometimes the "disconnect" as it relates to Ford Part Number has to do with iD Numbers versus Part Number.

Sounds like we need to do some VIP WFQs on this subject.

Oh, great. Thanks a hellovalot, guys. Now we've got carburetor part numbers vs ID numbers on the midterm exam. And I couldn't even get the correct number of Machs produced on the LAST test. :huh:

Both are excellent sources (trustworthy) and good reference material. I check these two books the most for most of the questions I come up with when working on or researching these cars. A good parts interchange manual would complete the "necessity" library.

the mustangtek.com site has a lot of the same info with part pics but isn't fully complete or populated with the part numbers for all applications.

Far as I know, that site is incorrect. '72 351C M and Q code cars (along with the '73 H-code) come with the 4300D spreadbore carb and intake manifold.

For that matter, aren't all the spreadbore designs ever made by Holley (4165, 4175, 6210) Q-jet specific?
