Have you ever wondered why the deck wing design on our Mustangs have those bent down wing tips. They're certainly different from many other cars. There's a reason. The wing tip design is called a "Winglet", and was designed by NASA, to decrease drag caused by wingtip vortices, and increase lift, ( In our case, since the wing on our Fords is mounted upside-down, to help increase downforce 4% to 12% while reducing drag. The technology is used commonly these days in Aeronautical designs. You can see a form of Winglet" on almost every aircraft today, but back when Ford dared to use it on Bosses and Machs, it was truly, cutting edge, as was the NACA/NASA hood scoop design. Makes you look again at those bent down wingtips on your Mustang, Huh?
