Thanks again, folks. Will report back with OHM and Voltage readings after I get home. Thanks for the tip, Jeff. Sure could have used it when I was swearing during the initial install after the rebuild. :blush:

If you have to pull the starter, here is a tip. take a ratchet strap and drop it down through the engine compartment and tie one end around the starter. tie the other end over the engine on the opposite side header.exhaust manifold with just the slack taken out, this takes the weight off when you go to do the work and can be reversed on install. Very helpful when working alone.

OK - it appears that there's a new starter in my future. OHMs test revealed 0.0 OHMs from the neg battery to the chassis, and 12.8 volts from the pos battery to the chassis.

Thanks for the confirmation, midlife. With Winter coming and the 'vert sitting in the garage, I'm getting itchy to go deeper into this restomod. And engine bay wiring is close to the top of the list. I may need a bit of your expertise, sir!
