My Car
1971 Mach 1
Years ago someone stole one of the body moldings off my Mustang at a car show. Of course no one saw it so I was screwed. On the car when I set up gone when I broke down to leave. Not in the mood to pay $300 for the 10 piece kit when I only need one piece. Looking for the piece that is behind the DS Door. About 10" long. Looking for a straight one in reasonable condition to go on a nice looking driver. Thanks

Here you go...think this is what your looking for?

Sent him a message to check and make sure. Son of a........

I have searched that guys parts on ebay multiple times and not sure why I never came across that piece. He has multiple others posted up also for the deluxe decor moldings. Thanks alot hoping he messages back that is the piece I am looking for.

Well, you can quit watching that auction hoping to 'only' spend $70. I have MOST of a set of these pieces - doors, and qtrs - but not fender pieces... and they are not going back on my car.

You may HAVE them for whatever it costs to ship to your address.

You ARE talking about the piece of trim between the colors close to my left elbow, right? ;) :D

I'll get a better picture of it this weekend.

No worries. I pulled the trim pieces off [carefully] when I replaced the quarters, and put them aside. I'll get them together and take a pic this weekend (shop's closed til then). I think the door pieces are still on the car, but like I said, you can have 'em all if ya like, for shipping.

I'm happy to pass them along to a good home since I'm not going to re-use them. A big part of that decision was due to the 4 pieces for the fenders are missing - I'm thinking the fenders were repaired/replaced after an accident, and those pieces of trim never made it back onto the car. Once I found out how expensive and hard to find they are, I decided to just leave 'em off altogether. Besides, I'll probably be putting hockey stripes on, and the trim is one of those "Trim w/no Stripes and Stripes with no Trim" deals.

Thanks for the kind words, guys... but really, it ain't nuthin' special. I'm just glad I hadn't already pitched 'em with all the other old scrap metal that came off.

I just hope they're still suitable for his car (you saw what I started with, right? rofl ).

Not a pickey man this a good car from 10 feet. Looking for straight no holes. Lil steel wool to clean it up and life is good. Perfection costs over $300. Not something that is necessary on a car I really just want to enjoy and drive for once. It has its issues and flaws but here shortly it will be back to a nice driver status. Something it hasn't been for a number of years.

I think it should do just fine then. I'll grab 'em when I'm at the shop tomorrow, get a pic or two, and we'll go from there. I'll leave the cleaning/polishing to you, so you get it exactly where you need it to match what you already have.

I kinda can't wait to see it on your car now. :D

OK, the door trim pieces are still on the doors. Tomorrow, I will work on getting them off - hopefully, with the mounting hardware as well (it was ONLY 105 in the shop and VERY busy today). ;)

For now, here are the quarter trim pieces.

As you can see, my idea of 'carefully' removing them was to simply cut the quarters around them. The piece you're wanting (bottom of the pics) I was able to remove from the sheet metal, but I have no idea where the mounting hardware is (probably fell apart, as you can see how bad the sheet metal is/was). It's in pretty good shape, and will require some polishing to make it nice - but everything you see is pretty much just years of schmootz and should clean up pretty nice. There are some minor scratches on the end by the wheel well opening, but the discoloration is mostly just dirty ick and should come off OK.

My plan is to just send them as they are (sheet metal and all) and you can separate them yourself (so I don't mess 'em up in the process).

If you also want the door trim pieces, I'll find a box big enough for those as well - but if you only want the quarter trim pieces, I'll send them as you see them. Either way, I'll get 'em in the mail this coming week.

Hope that's what you're looking for. :D

Well that is a different way of removing the trim. Never had the opportunity to do it that way. Kind of of hope I never do.....

Thank you much, some steel wool and be good to go. Hardware isn't an issue already have that. I'll message ya for you Paypal Info.
