Hey Guys , as per the topic has anyone managed to dismantle the rear tail lights, I want to redo the chrome surrounds and clean up the lights . New lights are a tad expensive to buy and ship to South Africa.

I remember dismantling the taillights from my car, along with another set from another car, to make a good set from all pieces available. I don't recall separating the lenses from the bezels however, but removing the lens/bezel from the housing was not difficult at all - just gotta be careful, as with anything with this kind of age.

I also agree with cleaning the inside reflective surface and respraying with flat white (if necessary) to increase brightness.

Good luck!

Has anyone tried blasting the housings with walnut shells?
I have not done them but had done honey comb rear panel, under fender splash guards, cowl vents and some other odds and ends. I would try it and see. Air pressure with the media can make big difference in what happens.
