The engine from my '71 convertible is off getting dynoed this week. It's a 302 2v at the moment under a ram air hood (with a close ratio 4 speed toploader behind it), but the heads and short block are built for more. I figured I'd get the engine in the car and shake down a bunch of other stuff before going for more HP. Until tonight.
Ford had planned to offer a Boss 302 model in 1971, and actually had intake and exhaust manifolds cast with D1 part numbers. Of course Ford changed their minds, and the parts went into dealer/service stock. I ran across a Boss 4v intake (and valve covers!) with the appropriate part numbers and date codes that they could have gone on my car, given it's build date for what seems like reasonable numbers. I also found a drivers side Boss exhaust manifold. To complete the set, I need to find a passenger side exhaust manifold. If anyone has any leads, please let me know.
