My Car
1995 Mustang Cobra
A friend owned a 1971 Mach 1 429 SCJ that was being restored. He passed away. I am going to list his car for his Wife. The metal work and paint are great. The interior needs to be refurbished. It has a custom functional Ram Air hood to fit a high riser intake manifold.

I am thinking of posting it on Bring A Trailer or taking to a Barret Jackson auction depending if it is a rare car. Please let me know what your thoughts are on where to list the car.

Please don't contact me directly to buy. I will be putting it up for auction.

IMHO, it's a pity about the hood and hi-rise manifold. Work looks like it was done very well, but I think this car should have been left as original as possible and minus the louvers.
Great looking car though.

I understand that. He was building the car for his pleasure, not as a collectors piece. The hood's craftsmanship is great. But is looks like a big flat nose. The good news is that the hood and intake can be easily replaced.

Bring a Trailer would be my first recommendation, but check out the past Mustang auctions on the site to see how other 429s fared. You can set a reserve to protect it from selling too low. Also check out Hemmings and Hagerty. I'd say BJ or Mecum as a last resort.

I sold a car on ebay many years ago and it was a smooth easy process since the buyer was local, also, I listed as local pickup only to avoid shipping hassles, back then there was a flat $100 seller fee which was very reasonable, not sure if that has changed. You can check out some local muscle car dealers or look on Youtube for places like Maple Motors, American Mustangs, Volo Auto Museum and many others who specialize in vintage or muscle car sales, I do not know how much they charge for commission though, they would let you know
