1972 Mustang Grande
Hi All, I'm just finalizing my first Mustang purchase. Should be delivered on the 17th of Jan, 2025. I've had several "simple" restorations in the past. I'm hoping this 1972 Grande will also be simple. New to the whole sports car scene. Will need a lot of advice. I look forward to meeting you here online! Anyone else here in Utah? Thanks - Derek

Welcome, Derek, and howdy from Texas! You'll find plenty of helpful information and solid advice from the members here. We're all always learning about our cars and share our experience and knowledge and fortunate not to have the know-it-alls you often encounter on forums. Once you get your Grande start a build thread with plenty of picture of the car and your progress. Don't hesitate to ask your questions.

Hello Derek, and welcome. Well I live in Boise Idaho, next door to you. Last September I was in San Diego and, on the trip back to Boise, my truck's Navigation sent me through Salt Lake City! Picturesque drive, but man, 19 hours nonstop to get home. I don't know why the computer sent me that route. I was so tired, I fear Utah now!!!!!!!! Congrats on your Grande find.

Hey Derek - I'm in SLC (Taylorsville) and I've owned my '72 convertible survivor for five years. Been lucky because she was in such great condition when I bought her, I didn't have to worry about how to keep my Diva happy. My issue now is that I no longer have the garage space to work on her myself, while most local Mustang shops won't even acknowledge me because it's not a $50k+ restomod project.

I digress - my first car at 17 was a '73 stripper with a 302-2v. Maybe we can get together and collectively find solutions for our common issues. I am a member of NUMOA (Northen UT Mustang Owners Association) but find the majority of members seem to be interested in recent Mustangs with all the modern day trimmings and HP.

Speaking of trimmings, have a wonderful KrampusMas tomorrow (or whatever you prefer to call it) and let me know if you'd like to connect. I don't check here much so please email me at "[email protected]" for a faster reply.

Regards,
Steve Glauser

Yeah, the younger crowd is like you said, interested in the newer Mustangs. I was describing my 72 Mach1 to a young fellow in a restaurant after he observed my Mustang attire. Once he heard 1972, he mumbled old school and walked away. Jerk!

Welcome to the inner sanctum! Post some pics as soon as you take delivery. Make sure you post some under hood shots.
