1971 302 alternator spacer

I have a 72 that has a 71 302 in it. The PO didn't have the correct length alternator spacer, so he used big washers and a lug nut. I have seen everything from 1 1/2" to 1 5/8th's" listed.

What is the correct length for a 71-72 302?
