Hi from RI
I have a question, on my 1971 mustang . I am putting a new power brake booster and master cyl. In , does anyone have a part #
For the front port ( rear brake ) fitting that joins the line to the master ? Any help would be great . Thanks
AJ

The fitting on the brake line that runs from the master cylinder to the proportioning/distribution block should connect directly to the master cylinder, unless the master cylinder is not the correct one or the MC to distribution block lines are not correct. The disc and drum master cylinders have different fittings. I have heard of some aftermarket master cylinders that do need an adapter fitting, but should have come with it (them).

Ford changed the bore size of the disc master cylinder late in the 72 model year (7/1/72 date) from a 1" bore to a 15/16" bore. They also changed the fitting sizes in the master to help prevent the improper part from being used on cars made before that date.

pre 7-1-72 MC will have 3/8-24 Primary (rearward port) and 1/2-20 Secondary (forward port) threaded ports

7-1-72 and later MC will have 7/16-24 Primary (rearward port) and 3/8-24 Secondary (forward port) threads.

Lots of things can happen that you end up with the wrong parts - incorrect MC, wrong brake lines etc. 1971 cars will use a Raybestos MC36251 master.
