I have a cam in the Ford Tube that was opened. Cam part # on the tube is correct for 1972 Q code. The cam itself does have a D2ZZ U stamped on the very rear of the cam. Also, it has an orange paint daub between the first journal and cam lobe. In that same space it looks like a CW possibly in the casting. Do the physical markings sound correct for the 72 Q code cam? Tube part # is correct but do markings sound correct? Cant find any information on the Clevland cams altogether.

Ford cams have an identification marking cast into the core. The 351CJ cam will have an upside down B and then V.

CW is CWC - Campbell, Wyatt and Cannon, which became CWC Textron, the foundry that cast the core. It's now known as Kautex and casts cams for a significant portion of vehicles on the road today.
