So The 351w I bought is out of a 86 f250. I was told that the oil pan off of my 302 would bolt right on but it doesn't...? What do I do? I need a shorter oil pan for it to fit right?

The arch at the front and rear of the oil pan is different for 302 vs 351's as well as the mounting rails being slightly different.

The pickups use a rear sump pan to clear the Twin I-beam suspension. The Mustangs use a front sump pan. The 302 and 351 pans are definitely different. To swap the rear sump to font sump, you will not only need the pan, but a different pickup. Your oil dipstick on the truck motor is on the driver side toward the rear. When you change the pan, it will no longer be checking the level in the sump. You'll want to get a front sump pan with a dipstick in it.

Good luck.
