Can a 73 grill fit a 71 and vice versa? Also how can you tell the difference between 71/72 fenders from 73 fenders?

Thanks

Yes it can - physically, they're the same size. However, there are some pretty significant differences between the '71-'72 and '73 grilles, that will require some wiring issues to be addressed.

The easiest way to tell 73 fenders from 71-72 ones is to look at the front fender extensions.

As the 73 extensions are longer, they end at the height of the top edge of the side marker lights.

71-72 extensions end above that line.

I hope my explanation makes sense.

While the grilles are the same length , they are not the same size

71-2 grilles have a lip on the bottom to fill the gap between the grille and the bumper while 73's do not have this.

They can be made to interchange but several modifications need to be done.

Also the center grill support and hood latch are different.

Thanks Luxstang I see the difference now.

Glad to see the car I am picking up has the correct grill and fenders.

Here's a trick to tell the fenders apart at a glance.... the marking light hole is on a 73 is even with the top of the bumper recess, where as it's an inch lower on a 71/72....

here's a side by side for you..
