My Car
1971 Mach 1, Grabber Blue w/Argent stripes. Original 2V 351C Auto, Tilt, rear defog, Black Comfortweave Interior. Under restoration. Original colors, 4V 351C, 4-Speed, Spoilers, Magnums, Ram Air. All Ford parts.
My brother needs to sell his car. 71 Mach M-code, C-6 folding rear seat, Pewter/Black exterior, Black Mach 1 interior. Has been sitting for years, will start and run, complete original power train, staggered shocks.

He is a veteran with a tough financial situation. The car needs a complete redo. What is a fair value for the car? Kansas City Mo area.

THanks!

Anywhere from $1500 to $15,000. Depends on condition, amount of rust present, how complete it is, and what options it has. Add some pics.

No current Pics available. All the normal original rust. So I call it restoration kamikaze. Dive in as deep as you want, or strip, repaint and drive. (After brake rebuild.) Options: Original 15 inch Magnums, Disc brakes, Tach, Console, folding rear, both spoilers, bright Mach 1 rocker trim, Posi, rear sway bar.

Without lots of pics and more information such as matching numbers (?) etc there's no way to "estimate" the value over the internet. Plus we've all learned that when a person says "normal rust" it means something different to every person.

Normal rust. Has been sitting for years. Those two things tell me it's a $1,500 car unless pics show otherwise. Not trying to beat you up here but rust KILLS the valve just like it kills the car.

After having to put on a LH quarter skin (not for the reason listed below) on my '71, all I have to say is this:

If you buy a '71-73 with rear quarter wheelwell rot for over $2k, it better be a Boss 351 or a J-code.

Otherwise, you are putting more work than you should in a car that can be purchased in better condition for less than the total cost of replacement panels, paint, and bodywork (not to mention kissing whatever was left of your spine goodbye).

I live in that area and I'm always looking to add more big horses to my collection. Let me know what he decides on price. Amd please get pics!

I have had a tough time getting him to deliver pictures. I will try to acquire some and post soon.

Thanks for all the advice/guesses on price so far.

front frame rail condition is important as well as the condition of the cowl.

that repair can cost you upwards of 5000$ in rust repair alone
