9 inch Rear end Question

Hello Forum Members,

Newbie on the forum but a long time Mustang owner over the years.  Looking to do a resto mod on my 72 Fastback.  I have a chance to purchase a 9 inch that came off a 64-69 Mustang.  Would this work on my 72, and would it need any modifications to fit?

The 69 is a couple of inches narrower and the earlier models even more.

Welcome to the forums!  Looks like you have a nice project.  The third-member will fit if you have a 9" housing in your '72.  You would need to check the axle spline count (28 vs 31) to determine if you axles are compatible.

Welcome from Ohio.  A coupe of quick questions -do you know what you have in it now and what are you wanting to have?  Just curious.
