Argent hood color on 71 convertible

My car is a 71 vert grabber blue with white top and ramair option. Would the hood have had argent/silver center?

Yes, it would have had argent on the hood. It would not have had the argent lower body color as the Mach1 "style" Exterior Decor group was not available on other models until 1972.

Thx!  I figured it didn't have the hockey stick on the side since it came with the protection group side moldings.  Anyone have thoughts on retaining those?  Not sure i like them and have not been able to locate replacements (but i do have a couple of pieces).

If you're getting a complete repaint and don't care for 'em, pull 'em off and don't look back.  Your painter shouldn't have any issues filling in any fastener holes that might be left.

Planning to not use them. I will fill the holes. Plan to paint it myself. Taking my time

As no 71 verts received the exterior decor group none of them received the side tape stripes either.

What is the difference between exterior decor group and decor group? Is decor group interior only?

There was no "exterior decor group" in 71. In 72 it was the separate coloured quarter panels, with chrome strips, colour urethane front bumper and honeycomb Mach 1 grill.

The decor group in 71 was primarily interior upgrades, plus colour matched exterior mirrors and chrome around the wheel wells and below the doors.

Yes, plus the lower front bumper guards.

I am being indecisive now. I am contemplating restoring the protection group but how easy is it to get decent parts? Does anyone have any available? Price could deter me. Since the sheet metal still has most of the studs I need to make up my mind before I cut them off. If anyone has the body protection group or the vertical bumper pieces please pm me with a price. Does anyone have a picture of a car with these installed? I looked on google for 15-20 mins with no luck

I have a fender with the strip still attached, don't remember if it's driver or passenger, but I don't know if it matters.

I'm sure OMS or Motorcity Mustang have some parts.
