I'm restoring a 73 Mach 1. I went to Jim Osborn's site and they only offer the body, interior, and chassis. Electrical only goes to 72. Will the 72 manual work for the 73? Also does anyone know a good manual for the engine assembly?

The Assembly Manuals are fascinating to read since you can get a sense of how the car was assembled in the factory. Pretty much required for any serious restoration work. Although the 72 manual will not be complete enough for a 73 (the 73's had many, many changes in electrical from '72 -- more than 71 to 72), it would still be relatively useful as a general guide for much of the car....just don't use it as a definitive answer to everything.

I own several of both years a couple are all originals. The wiring under the dash is pretty much the same but very specific to what options are on the car. vert. Mach 1 etc. You cannot take a no tach wire harness and make it work without sending to Midlife Harness for repair / rework, missing wires and instrument plug is different.

I think under the hood is about the same might be some differences around the voltage regulator between years. The under the hood is also dependent on options, engines, transmission all come into play. The parking lights are an obvious difference. Finding the exact harness you need is a little tricky for sure. The P.W. harness is different from 72-73 routed the same just different switches.

If you have specific questions or need pictures of an original that I have 73 Mach 1 that has every option you could get. Of course I have AM 8 track so different for other radios. Mine is 4 speed, PW, 351 Q. There are 32 options on the car had two window stickers to list them all. I can take pictures under hood but dash never been apart has 12,000 miles has sat in barn since the 80's. It is just dusty and brackets are getting rusty from sitting all those years. I am out of space to post pics here so best to do with an email.

I just got my harness back from midlife. I'm just looking for how it's mounted/ routed. So if I understand you right the 71-72 electric assembly manual should work?

Thanks for all the replies.

For routing of the harness, it should work as a general guide just fine. Any sub-harness branches may vary a bit, but it should be pretty obvious when you line up the end connectors.
