Hey guys! I surf around ebay now and then for cleveland parts. And yesterday i noticed some very cheap top end kits has surfaced., like this for example 351C Top End kit

Whats your opinion on this? Is it just junk? Should be a nice upgrade from stock worn out 2v heads right?

1080 dollars for all of that (heads, intake, roller rocker etc.) seems incredibly cheap.

Probably why it's on ebay.  :whistling:

I'm always leery of performance parts being sold on ebay that aren't older and used... and then only slightly less leery if they are.

You do get what you pay for. The success stories I have heard on heads like these are when people buy them bare, get machine work done to seat Good quality valves properly seated and put on a good quality set of rockers. In which case the extra cost of putting the bare units back together right ends up costing a fair bit on top.

It's amazing how many people that I know that agree these parts are of poor quality, but they just don't seem to care. They say , "it's just an intake manifold, distributor, roller rockers, whatever". You just can't make people understand that all parts are not made equally and in the automotive market you generally get what you pay for.

Very true... a cheap valve that drops into the engine.... most often destroys that engine.

I have looked into those bare heads; it's really only viable if you can do the assembly yourself using all good quality components, and even at that; then the cost of buying it all and some machine work comes close to the better quality pieces.... and your not left using cheap heads.

I came to the conclusion that for me; I'm best off just changing to single groove valves in my 4v OC heads for now, maybe getting it decked a bit to up the CR on the stock flat tops a tad.
