I don't see why not. If it's upside down, the spark plugs out and the pistons slid up in the cylinders, it should work. You will need help to make sure the crank doesn't contact the connecting rods unless they are lined up properly. That may take a couple extra sets of hands. Once in place, tighten your mains and check clearances. Don't forget to check rod bearing clearances, too.

I've rebuilt a dodge engine that way and helped a guy with a supra do the same thing as well

Yep. Just need a friend to help guide rods onto journals when you drop the fresh crank in.

Mark the caps like I did, so you don't mix them up or put them on 180 from where they were. Also, use fuel hose on the rod bolts to prevent scratching the journals.
