Does anyone have a good aftermarket source for this part? I figured maybe I could find it in the HELP section at Autozone, but no luck.

Another of those items I had access to back in the day when I built prototype air cleaners at Canadian Fram. I could have "scooped" those, vacuum motors and parts, heat riser tubes, elements, temp sensors etc. But alas I didn't, too honest I guess. Hind sight Hind sight!

The part you need, Ford, called a crankcase vent hose elbow. This part was not formatted with a typical Ford part # (Prefix, basic, suffix). It was considered a standard/utility part and had a Ford hardware part number. The original part # was 383259-S and was replaced by 384411-S. Both numbers are now discontinued and no longer available from Ford. Early versions had a 45° angle, and the replacing 384411-S had a 90° angle. For a short while, both versions could be found the in the boxes of service part 384411-S. As far as I know, no one is reproducing this part. I dont see as many of them online as I used to, so the supply of them may be shrinking. A retainer (D1AZ-9E628-A), as shown in Hemikiller's illustration, holds the emissions filter and housing to the inside of the air cleaner housing.
If you don't find one in your searches, you can try this site. http://www.greensalescompany.com/ When typing the number on their site, leave the hyphen out between the part number and the S.
I have seen some crazy prices on these elbows. Some of these sellers seem really proud of their offerings, so don't be shocked at what you are quoted. If you cannot find the elbow you need, contact me, as I may be able to help you.

The same one was used on all Chrysler air cleaners as well including the filter pack. If you can't find it on Ford listings, try Chrysler. It was a standard crank case ventilation system.

Great information, Steve. Thanks! Kevin.

Does that elbow need grease to be installed? Inquiring minds would like to know...
I have never seen any with grease used. The few times I had to replace them (under hood fire damage) I used a small squirt of silicone spray to help get their rubber line to slip over the one end more easily. I never had one pop out from their attached rubber hose due to the silicone being used. And then factory assembly never looked like the hose was slipped in “dry.”

An aside, many thanks to our fellow enthusiasts who provided part #s and illustrations/pictures. Definitely worth my while to save for future reference in the event I ever need any such parts. Now that I have all that info on file I hope I have all but guaranteed I will never need to look the part info up again <g>...
