My car has seen a lot, I am in the process of rebuilding it. The doors have a scalloped piece of metal on the bottom that holds a weatherstrip. i currently do not have weatherstripping installed.

the problem is the scalloped metal is scraping the door sill, gouging the paint.

the doors fit correctly, the hinges are rebuilt and solid. The tops of the doors line up with the quarter panels…

anyone got tips? Will installing the weatherstrip resolve this? It’s on my list, I just painted the car this week..

for now there’s a towel wedged in for protection…

It will be interesting. My channels are welded on as part of PO door repairs. The front of doors are about a credit card thickness away from windshield trim and bottom gap is consistent and appears proper the length of door same with rear gap. Top rear is level or 16th up so yeah might need slight adjustments. Hinges rebuilt. I have hammered on some scallops in Chanel to try to get them off door sill. They are thick and stiff. Will see how that goes.
