I have a couple of the corrugated rubber tubing that carries the door wiring (between the door and the A pillar).  My 71 Mach 1 didn't originally come with them, but I'd like to run speaker wiring through them.  Two questions:

  1. Does anyone have any pictures they can post?  I'm trying to figure out exactly where to drill the holes
  2. Does anyone know the right size holes for the ends?

Thanks a ton,

Nick

I took some pics and I thought I posted but do not see them. I am so confused with the new set up. I had the hole sizes also but tossed piece of paper. The one hole size is on the instruction sheet 1.25" in A-pillar, but the other is not given. I did hold scale up to the door hole in pics. There should be dimples in A post and end of door where the holes go.

First off, thank you so much @Carolina_Mountain_Mustangs.  Your post was immensely helpful!

My son and I spent the weekend installing the door wiring.  Check out how the tubes turned out:

We looked all over to find a way to make the 1-1/4" and 1-7/8" holes.  There are lots of options for the 1-1/4" (especially online).  The 1-7/8" was harder to find. I was really hoping to find the right size hole punch.  Eventually, our local Ace Hardware (< 1 mi from home) had what we needed in stock.  We used carbide tipped Diablo hole saws.

We did have to pull the doors off the car as I didn't see any other way to drill the pillars.  That wasn't terribly hard, except for the 2 49 year old bolts breaking on us on the way out (you can see the broken bolts on the driver side above).  Thanks @Bentworker for helping us out with the replacement hinge plates.

Anyone want to know how I did something, just ask.

Nick
