Has any body used or ueses Driven HR1 15W50 high performance mineral engine oil .

and is it any good .

Never used it but I'm sure its at least decent but if it is not synthetic it will have a fair amount of vscosity index improvers. I would rather use a group IV synthetic.

I have used 20w 50 a bazillion times in the last 50 years but i live where it gets to over 100 degrees f in the summer.

 
That is about what I paid last time on Amazon but I see they jacked their price to over $50 now. Guess I know where I will order from next time. Thanks!

 
Driven makes good products but, unless you are using large bearing clearances (greater than .0031 on rods or more than .003 on the mains, according to King bearings) a 50 weight oil is not needed or appropriate. A 10w30 or 10w40 is likely a better choice. Chuck

 
@Nige, you should look at your own UK great Miller's oil.

They offer great oils made for our engines. They even have a synthetic variation that is also made with performant classic engines in mind.

Not engine related, they also have an awesome tech team that really listen and advise without having sales put first. Something so rare these days, I thought i'd mention it.
