Well got back yesterday afternoon from 4 days in Glamis Sand dunes. It turned into a expensive trip with 300.00 plus in fuel and a break down on Sundays rip threw the dunes. I was rolling along when I heard a loud clicking noise coming from the CV joint. Then before Got stopped to see if I was loosing a CV joint their was one more loud click from the CV joint popping out of its cage. I jumped out to see what happened. Well look at that! You would think after 129 trips to the desert and 17 years of off roading the stock Volkswagen trailing arms wouldn't brake like that.:D Bummer I was hoping to make 2 more trips before it gets to hot. Oh well, I will fix it in the fall before next season.Just means I will have to get back on the Mach 1.

That is a bummer...I never had a dune buggy yet..Besides a old tricked out honda oddessy as a teen..lol..But it was alot of fun too....Only outdoors machine i got right now is a old water cooled husqvarna 400xc..It dont do too bad in the dunes thou.

Almost looks like it was cut. Good news for the Mach.
Hmm it does look like it has been cut.Lets see and my wife didn't want to go on Sundays ride.:s

Well Mike, it looks to me like you where having way to much fun any ways
I was the wind blew like hell Friday so the dunes were smooth and fast.At least we got 4 good rides in.

I'm thinking: Sleeve it, weld it, toss in a new half-shaft, and get back out there next weekend!

Just sayin'. ;) :D

I'm going to do some research about putting longer arms on.I really want to stay focused on the Mach1.Kinda bummed I have to do anything to it. I'm glad it's the end of the season.

Well, being focused on the Mach 1 is never a bad thing, as I'm sure the rest of the guys will agree.

But, I know it still bugs the crap out of me when any one of my 'babies' has issues- and I'm sure just about everybody around here feels the same way. I actually need to replace the seals in the Ram's front axle, swap out the front shocks, do a brake job, and possibly even suspension/steering bushings and front-end alignment... but getting the Rustang ready to come home (if necessary) is currently right above it on the list.
