Flush Mount Windshield

I've had a few threads related to this topic, and I've finally taken the first steps toward making it happen. Thanks to Blueoval71 for making a great template of his windshield for me! I started by simulating the roughly 3/8" thick bead of urethane by using some leftover edges I had from some foam floor tiles, then I laid the template in to get a quick idea of how much I have to fill in around the glass. I'm going to use the template to make a thicker version with some 1/4" pressboard to more accurately represent the real glass. Then, it'll be time to start welding in some filler strips.

Interesting idea, so you wont need any window trim??? It will just be glass and body??? How are those tail lights coming along?

Right, no trim. The glass will be flush with the body with about a 1/16-1/8" gap around to allow for minimal movement with body flex/expansion/contraction. The taillights aren't on the back burner just yet...I just needed to let some of my frustration with them cool off while make some progress on the car. I'm way to far involved with them to give up!

The other night I made a template from 3/16 pressboard to represent the thickness of the glass, and tonight I welded in my filler strips. I still need to go back and weld up a few pinholes and shape the upper corners a bit, but it's about 90% there

I like it! I just plasti dipped my rear tail light bezels for a bit of a different look. Now that I put it all back together, the tail parking lights dont work, gonna need to find a new harness somewhere.

Truly amazing and inspiring to see innovation and new ideas being applied to cars that are already 40 years old. I plan to watch this with interest! Keep up the amazing work.

This is probably one of my favorite modded-stang builds. Excellent work and some innovations that (I'd bet) will see light on other modded Mustangs soon.

I happened to notice while I was pumping gas in my '09 Focus that the rear glass is installed the same way I'm doing my windshield, so I took a pic to give a more accurate visual of what it'll look like all done.
