fmx to C4 swap

a few weeks ago my fmx cracked...literally.

so now I'm in the process of doing a fmx to C4 swap to a 302.

are there any gotchas that I need to be concerned of?

The C4 I got is from a '79 Ford f100 with a 302

I got everything for the trans, including flywheel.

I'm hoping this is a direct swap without any major modifications.

Any information/help/suggestions is much appreciated.

There are a few versions of C4, small bellhousing, big bellhousing, 157 tooth flywheel and 164 tooth flywheel. Do you know what you bought?

you may also have crossmember issues. My car originally had a 351C with FMX and has the 3 leg crossmember. I now have a 302 with C4 and am in the process of getting my car going. The C4 bolted to the crossmember but the tail is pushed over to one side. Someone on the forum informed me that there is a 4 leg crossmember needed for a C4

I think the trucks have the larger bell/164T flexplate, if it is actually the original truck trans. I don't know if it will fit in the trans tunnel or not, haven't tried that combo.

i'm looking for 2 car bellhousings myself. Both of my C4's that I've had "in inventory" have been broken by a careless person (not me ).
