My 73 has a 71-72 right side dash without the seat belt light. When I inquired about it from the owner who restored the car he mentioned that he didn't like the light and just tied it up behind the glove box.

Here's a picture of what I did with my '72. Granted it never had a seatbelt light to begin with (built in October, 1971). Obviously not for everyone, but tied together the red, white, and blue American muscle car look I was after!

Cheers!

Thanks guys...I even "stole" the '69 door panel idea...Trying not to over do it...but...guess I just like the pony jewelry! I put in the blue courtesy and map light LED's that I turn on when I show it at night. The blue light glistens off the "jewelry" almost like a black light effect for amazing results. I get so many compliments. I try to be as tasteful as possible and know it's not for everyone but definitely shows well.

Cheers!

Jhawk635,, I like that interior! It all works together very well,,,,

I never realized that so many people liked the seat belt wart,,,, I'm rethinking it's elimination,,,, My FrankinStang has a 429 out of a 1970 Torino under the hood,, I had thought about mounting one of these over the hole but am afraid it would seem to out of place and a little large

or one of these

Hey Jhawk, your door trims and mine are cousins!

I was thinking of putting a new legend in mine that said "Be Afraid!" then hooking up the light to a switch activated at wide open throttle...

In reality I have far too much stuff to do to bother with things like that. Probably for the best :)

I've mixed in a bit of dark burgundy with my all black interior

I think it's OK to mix it up a bit of course not concourse correct.
Sounds nice...I think it's great to "mix it up a bit". Unless your car is rare or has really unique options I think it adds to the value to tastefully customize. Of course, that's each owners prerogative.

Hey jhawk,

I like your gauges (and your interior)... I plan on upgrading my dash gauges in the future, not really sure when, but I'm always looking for input from those who have already upgraded. If you don't mind me asking...what brand of gauges did you use and where did you get them? Thanks!!

I went with the New Vintage white faced gauges. I can't remember where I bought them but here's a link to CJ Pony that carries the same thing.

I wanted it to be different so I added another Mustang Pony to the Center Gauge in the middle. Many people put a clock there but I have one in the console.

Also, since I wanted the center console gauges to match it launched me into an interesting how-to project.

Hey Thanks jhawk!

I checked out lots of different guage packages. I'm not definite yet, but I do like these dakota digital gauges:

I like the idea of having everything in front of me. I know I may be crazy but I'm getting rid of the the center gauges, and my long center console. I plan on putting in this new aftermarket console:

I just want some modern touches, cup-holders and gauges that I can rely on to be accurate and actually see at night. I'm tired of dealing with my dash stuff.

Thanks again...

I really like the Dakota gauges...the blue light would have worked well in mine. I don't think those were available at the time I bought mine.

As for removing the center gauges and console, I think that's crazy! But hey we all have our own tastes. I'm more of a subtle differences when it comes to modernizing. I think whichever direction you go you will love it and that's what counts!

JHawk,

I'm sure a lot of members would agree with you on that. But like you basically said... to each his own. I bet I would have got blasted out of the water on any other forum. I may end up keeping the console just in case. Thanks.

I've never been a fan of the above dashbox seatbelt light in my 73 coupe,,, has anybody else done away with the thing???

I did search the site but came up with nothing on removal,, I found a replacement panel but it is plastic? and mine is metal and part of the dash,,,

I'm repainting my whole dash so now is the time, seems like a good place for a Mustang emblem, or I could bondo and make disappear. Already have repaired a couple of bad dents in other locations..
...did you get rid of the dashboard seatbelt light? I'm looking for one...pm me if you still have it, thanks!
