My Car
72 mustang fastback,{mine} 74 Chevy Nova {girlfriends car}
2001 Sunfire that is falling apart haha.
Me and my lovely girlfriend have just enlisted for a car restoration course at one of the colleges near hear it is a 3 hour course once a week. I think a part of it will be a breeze for me because they will be teaching welding. Guess I'll have to help the teacher out hahaha. {for those who don't know me I have been a full time welder for over 15 years}

They will teach us the proper methods of rust removal and how to prepare the steel for future work. The price for the class is 259$ for 8 three hour courses. Then there is the second course where we get to work on our parts. Will be useful since I dented a few with my burnout escapade. {for those who don't understand read my why I've been gone post :-/}.

They also have an engine rebuilding course that I will take in the future. I have a 460 waiting for me to get my hands dirty :D. This should be fun. It will give me and Alice something else to do together apart from drinking beer listening to metal or going to metal shows hahaha.

That will be a great class for sure. I'd like to find one here.

::goodjob:: And kudos that she is going with you!! I could use your welding expertise...
She owns her own 74 nova It was here first car at 32 years old one week after getting here drivers license. She has had the engine, transmission and fresh paint you can see it here http://www.7173mustangs.com/ezgallery.php?action=view&id=19 and here is what she has done with the engine

She is really active on her nova forum and is actually looking for a donor trunk pan for her 74.{if anyone has any leads}

All engine work was don buy D&D performance in Chesterville Ontario. She has 368 bhp and 400 ftlbs of torque Not bad for a grocery getter hahaha

Have fun in class! Hope you learn some good stuff.

Honestly, I don't see anything wrong with these pursuits. Having common interests is vital to a long lasting relationship! :D

OUTSTANDING, Eric on a couple of different levels!!

Not only to you get some more quality time with your First Lady but you will also be enhancing your interest and capabilities for our hobby.

I agree. Me getting her to get a drivers license was just so she could use the car in case of an emergency but it turned her into a gear head hahaha. So + 1 for me.

Awesome Eric !!! I was just saying last night in the frame connector thread how I'm a firm believer in training & staying current..I had recommended taking a course or 2 if your in the process of a resto or plan to do your own work..Good deal..I'm sure you will enjoy it !

Thanks I am late comer to the hobby but I do love working with my hands and from the start wanted a 71/73 mustang. Alice was actually the one who found the course . So it will bring us both more knowledge and some good times.

Eric..is the trunk that far gone that you couldn't section in the bad spots using the 72 floor ? I have a long time childhood friend with an awesome Nova..after speaking to him it seems that if the floor isn't to far gone you could use the 72 floor to do a repair. His car was in The April edition of full throttle magazine.

no the problem is the gas tank and the depression for the spare are not the same. I am sure it could be hammered into place and we could make it work but she would like to get one from either a 73 or 74 and the 75 to 76 would also be easier to fit.

ok I like the Motley crue one But the hurricane one Sorry just makes me cringe. Here is my contribution to the music.

I'm book marking your Welding 101 thread. Thanks for reposting.

Haha, Eric. What an awesome thread - great videos! And it's a great idea, since it's your fault that she turned into a gearhead. :D Hope you two have a great time and learn a lot.

BTW, I love the Gatorade holder in the pic. Who came up with that idea?

Doc
