Haha, Eric. What an awesome thread - great videos! And it's a great idea, since it's your fault that she turned into a gearhead. :D Hope you two have a great time and learn a lot.

BTW, I love the Gatorade holder in the pic. Who came up with that idea?

Doc
hahaha thats the overflow the guy's who did her engine did that

Well, I guess being both a metal head and a welder go together.. somehow.. ;)

That´s a cool idea to take those classes. I´d love to do that too, but my work does not allow me to do it. I work an irregular schedule, so I´d miss more than half of the classes.

Felt good to hear "Schools out" again!! Brings back fond memories.

well last week was just an introduction to the course so nothing special. This week we tore apart a door shell from it's frame. It was pretty much to get the people comfortable with the tools. Also how to get the spot welds out and the lips sanded down to be able to separate shell from frame. the teacher is pretty good and he moves along quickly.

We have no theory this is just shop shop shop. Basically we have 24 hours for the course so there is no B.S. We wont be body men or 'woman" When we are done but we will have enough to do our own work on our cars.

As we don't have an insurance company setting the standards for who long it takes to do a job. We don't have to worry on being quick and cutting corners hahaha.

Next week Welding :sleepy:. The teacher already asked me to give a hand in helping the others. Guess I'm the teachers pet:p

well we started the work on the 69 dart door. We had the door blasted then we started making the front patch. Once the front patch was pretty close we trimmed the edges to separate the skin from the shell part way up.

I was alone on the next part because my girlfriend was home sick with a good case of "man cold". :s

I formed another small patch for the shell where the rust had gone through. here are a few pics. Next week I let Alice do most of the work while I supervise since it will be welding :)

Nice work ! 2 little tips so you don't end up with all those peck marks (which thins the metal) 1 heat the area LIGHTLY with a propane torch where your bending & 2 use a flat spoon laid on the metal where your bending & HIT that with the hammer instead of hitting the metal directly.

Thanks for the tip Q. This class is a basic class it is only 24 hours. And we don't always have everything handy. I will be watching your videos to get better and get some cool Ideas and Tips. I subscribed to your channel on you tube hahaha I know you post them all here. But as soon as you upload one it sends me an e-mail to notify me. And I get to see all of them without having to go through every thread. Keep Up the good work. Those videos are great.::yourock::
