Hello to everyone. Here I am from the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, from Spain. I just found this site especially for 71-73 Mustangs, for me, not just the most wonderful Mustangs in history, but also the most wonderful of all American cars.  I'm planning to buy a 71-73 Convertible Mustang, with 351 Cleveland engine, either in Spain or in USA, and I'm looking for one that is all restoration already done or, at least, most of it. I mean, if I go to US and buy one there, it must be one in perfect shape, because here it's not easy to find specialists in American cars. Most of specialists are about classic European cars like Jaguar and so.

The problem is that, most of Mustangs that I find in US in perfect shape are from dealers, and prices are too high, double than what I want to pay. Anyways I'm a patient man and I know that I will finally find one from a private seller and in perfect condition.

Ok, that's all by the moment. A lot to read at the forum now.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Finding a perfect one is a sporting goal. Good luck for that. I found my unrestored 73ér with 351 Cleveland in Germany. Almost around the corner from where I live. Chance and luck. Will let in like this. Even if he has some battle marks. That's what makes the charm. Greetings from Heidelberg in Germany

Looks like you know how to make amigos quickly

No need really, you will gradually meet people along the way that knows much more about these cars than the "pro's".

If I were you, I'd focus on finding one that runs with a fairly solid body, complete and with the engine/options that you really want.
A tired engine can be fixed easy, same for trans, at acceptable costs even if you let it done here...
but changing quarters, floors, cowl vent etc..  can become VERY expensive on this side of the Atlantic unless you'd do it yourself.
So make sure to triple check the car at the very well known corrosion places before buying it.

As already mentioned by Fabrice, there is far more knowledge here in this forum than most of the so called Pros have. Search for the car you want to have, maybe you stumble over it here in Europe, and even if it isn't perfect, you will find lots of support here. The only dumb question is the one not asked.

I "stumbled" across my '71 M-code Grande w/toploader and comp suspension.

A friend of a friend  had two vehicles and wanted to sell one and I was looking for

a vehicle, just something that ran.  He wanted to keep his Dodge power wagon

so I was stuck with the Mustang.  A few years down the road the engine cracked

the block with no real way to repair.  So along comes Don of OMS with a Cleveland

never fired long block and that is what is in the car now.

It's great that there are people here not just from US and Canada, but also from Germany and The Netherlands, closer to Spain. I see I'm not the only European man crazy about American cars. :-D

Mobile.de is a web I visit very often. They even have translation to Spanish.

I know Moralzarzal, Tommy. There's a very nice castle from the Middle Age very near to there, in Manzanares. Although I live in the northern coast of Spain, the green Spain.

Welcome to the forum from North Carolina, U.S.A.. Just be diligent in your searching. I agree the big showroom shiny car sales shop price the cars way too high and usually are not very correct builds. Look for original un restored cars that have not been painted. That way nothing is hidden. Do searches on E-bay even I have bought 2 convertibles on ebay both were great deals I thought. A huge word of caution. NEVER send anyone a deposit to hold a car for you. If you cannot come view in person check on the forum for someone that can view in person. If you do purchase a car here you should also put extra parts you need in the car when shipped. A drive on cars ships for much less than one in a container but with a container you can include any extra parts you might want or need. If you just put inside the car they might not make it to your, thieves are everywhere. Also NEVER pay for a car unless someone has inspected and verified all the VIN# information. If you are looking at a car ask the owner for a Marti report. The short report only takes days and will tell you how it was equipped from the factory.
The car in the picture was one I got off of Ebay was from California and pretty much rust free. Not painted has mostly factory paint and factory interior. It has 351 C H code with Eldebrock intake and Holley added. MSD ignition and engine was built, 48,000 miles. Has Air Conditioning, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Tilt Column, Long Console, AM/FM, Decor Group, Convenience Group, Tinted Glass, Gauges, Deluxe Seat Belts, Sport Wheel Covers, Dual Racing Mirrors. Also had new set of aluminum wheels and tires and the original steel wheels. For reference it sold for $7,200 USD and about $1,000 to ship. I did take apart and clean and have driven lots. The picture is in front of the Mustang Owner's Museum in North Carolina. I have another 73 convertible and building a 72 Q code now.

This is a Canadian buy and sell page. They have lots of antique cars for sale. Good thing about canadian cars is many of them are American cars to start and have been imported here at substantial cost to the buyer and it’s cost that they never typically recuperate on resale. What’s that mean for you? Better buying power in Canada, the exchange rate is much more favourable.

here’s a link to a fresh looking 73 convertible 44k Canadian about 28k euro. Convertibles aren’t typically popular here for obvious reasons.
