How to Identify a 9in Diff

Is there a way to tell if you have a 9in rear-end without opening the diff?

Yes, there will be a "bump" in the rear of the case to the left side looking at it from the back of the car. Also, if I've got this right, you won't be able to put socket on the bottom nut. Can't quite remember that detail. Someone will chime in I'm sure.

Yes- the bottom two (I think) nuts that hold the center section into the axle housing you can't get a socket on...
