Born an I-6, spent the teenage, 20 and 30 years as a 302, but at 40 will reach full potential as a 351C.
The saga continues...
When approaching my house for the first time, Luxstang walked across my lawn. He commented how soft and cushy it was. Unlike any lawn he had ever walked on before.
I didn't think to much of it...until the following morning. Just prior to going to lunch, he bends down on one knee, carefully begins examining the edge of my lawn where the lawn meets the sidewalk. Perplexed, he informs me in his country of Lux., the lawns grow over the sidewalk. Only in America has he seen the grass stop growing right at the edge where the sidewalk begins. He wants to know why does American grass not invade the sidewalk.(Really. This really happened)
Immediately, my defenses react. Lux. is obviously trying to get me to divulge one of America's best kept landscaping secrets(who would have known?).
First, I try not to act surprised as this question immediately caught me off guard. My first reaction was to inform him of the USDA genetically engineered lawns that immediately stop growing at the edge of a cement embankment. Thankfully, without hesitation, a response flew into my head so I could answer without hesitation.
I informed him a recent invention known as the LAWN EDGER is used to manicure the lawn around the edge of the cement. As I did not have one, I had to demonstrate the cutting action by hand. Unfortunately, it did not appear he believed, or perhaps he did not understand my explanation. So, I offered an alternative as well- the weed wacker. Lux. was more familiar with the weed wacker, so he seemed satisfied at this explanation.
As he stood up, I was examining his hand and fingertips carefully because I did not want him to have a grass clipping sample which would allow him to reverse engineer our genetically modified grass.
I believe our national security is still secure...at least around my house.
