Mach 1: Front spoiler question

Is the front spoiler a factory option or an aftermarket accessory on a 1971-73 Mach 1?

It is not a factory option on Mach 1. It was only fitted at the factory on Boss 351s. However, dealers installed a ton of them due to the popularity of the front spoiler appearance. I have one on my Mach 1 even though it is not "original".

Yup, Chuck beat me to it. Standard only for the Boss 351, optional on the Mach1.

I also installed the chin spoiler on my car. I believe it gives the car a more balanced look, even thow it is no original to the car.

Thinking about putting one my Grande. The reason being it is supposed to improve airflow around the engine.

Any extra amount of cooling capacity I can dump on the engine would be a good thing although it would look out of place on the Grande.

Is the spoiler supposed to remain black plastic and not painted body color correct?

Mine is black as are many that I have seen with the 2 tone paint, but I am sure there are painted ones out there as well.

Black, if the accent color paint is black. Argent, if that is the accent color. Other than that, it's whatever color you want it to be. Chuck
