- 1971 Mustang Mach 1 ram air 351c H-code, fmx, ps,pb, medium yellow-gold, hubcaps and beauty rings.
I've built models since I was in Elementary School. Airplanes, cars done mostly. I still do 'em today as winter indoor projects. The biggest problem is, what do I do with them when i'm done? I've got boxes of finished cars just being stored. As to a Mustang kit, the relatively new release of the '71 Boss 351 is the most detailed and correct kit out there. Here's a few various things I've built.

I've been building plastic model kits for over 60 years. Wish I'd kept the ones I built as a kid! Many of them would be rara avis these days.
Spike, if you have finished models you'd like to display, how about a wall-mounted acrylic case like this one from Carney Plastics? I have some of my completed models in this one. The '74 Barracuda 4x4 (on a modified Dodge truck chassis) in the top left slot is one of a handful of models that have survived from my childhood. The '66 Mustang convertible started out as a coupe; I used actual Mustang upholstery vinyl to make the top boot cover. The '69 Shelby and '71 Corvette are replicas of actual cars we have owned. The dragster has a correct scale 12-cylinder Allison V1710 airplane engine in a partially scratch-built frame. The '67 Fairlane is a model show class winner. Fun stuff!
For anyone interested, in 2024 Revell came out with an all-new '71 Boss 351 kit that is superbly detailed and very correct. It's definitely the best early Mustang kit ever made. I wish it came with Mach 1 decals, but they only include the Boss decals.
