My first Mustang 73.

I got this 73 Grande about 10 days ago. The last time it was on the road was in 2022. The engine is a 351 Cleveland. The floorpans are rotten and I am going to replace them.

This first year will be about structure and safety. No real hot rod stuff at first.

I have been a BMW guy most of my life, bit this thing really caught my eye.

I live outside Dallas TX.

I am unsure of the thickness as of yet.

This pan comes with the seat platforms as well.

I am setting up to start cutting out the ugly. I have removed the exhaust and am disconnecting the clips for fuel and the fuel lines. I plan on letting the lines just droop and putting welding blankets in between them and the existing rotten floors. I have to also drop the tank and remove it as well before I start making sparks.

The tank has gas in it and I need to drain it
The tank has a 2000 year stamp in it.

If you know of an easy way to drain this tank I welcome some input.

Aside from the floorpan, I see very little rust, mostly light surface type.

Welcome from So Cal. I’ve got lots of family in Caddo Mills, up I30 from ya. Nice looking ride. If the floors are junk, I would check the trunk floor, since you’re removing the tank. The only successful way I’ve emptied the tank is with an electric fuel pump and sections of fuel hose into gas containers.

Thank you Sir.. I spent many a happy day in San Diego and some in Alameda. I will just have to bite the bullet and get more tools to do the job correctly.

Thanks.. I saw that when the guys were working on Binky (BadMotorSports) they used steel, but I found other guys doing it with wood.
It is up to abt 26in between the rockers and the garage floor. It cost me abt 100 $ in materials
