Just saw this

A six pack Super Bee

1971 M-code Mach 1
That's a very nice looking car, thx for posting. Been collecting a lot of pics for reference now. This time next week I'll be on my way to AZ, just not looking fwd to the long drive.

Worked on getting the car ready for the trip back to WA. Got tires put on (same ones as I used for my Mustang build), inventoried the parts in the trunk and cleaned it up a little. Tomorrow I will be loading it onto the trailer and heading back on Wednesday if everything goes smooth, There are a few body dings but no major body work to repair. Only large ding is on the drivers door towards he bottom that you can see in the pics. The front and rear bumpers are flawless and I will be able to polish them up and reuse. Here are some pics from today:

::thumb:: so jealous right now. Great stuff John

Looks like very dry car John. Aussie cars are very often this crispy its hell on every soft part but bodies are generally pretty rust free.
Luke,

The car has a lot of surface rust but no rot as far as I can tell. As you mentioned all the soft items are completely destroyed and will have to be replaced because of the desert heat. All of the body panels are original so that is a plus. Tomorrow I hope to take a lot of pics to document the condition and will probably remove the seats to see if I can find a build sheet. Hopefully its still there. I'll post pics when I have them ready.

Edit: This car has resonators with the turn down tips. Didn't think RR's came with resonators.

Started to tear the interior out to look for the build sheet but it was gone. I found remnants but nothing that would help. The floor pan is solid so I will not need to do anything with that. A I mentioned the car has an automatic and the PO used an old Hurst shifter to shift the tranny. No detents or anything so you could accidently push it into reverse while driving down the street. The motor is out of a state patrol car and you can see that the motor accessories were also jury rigged to fit. Here are some pics, I am going to dig into the trunk later this afternoon.

Got the rear window out to look for heavy rust and sure enough there are some bad spots. Most of it is on the bottom part of the window and the bottom corners with the passenger side the worst. I knew that the RR was prong to rust there so I was sort of expecting this. I think I can cut out the bad areas and put patches in those areas. I'll check with AMD first to see if they make replacement pieces and my replace the whole bottom side if they do. Few more pics, also the Pistol grip shifter and tranny was in the trunk with a few other parts.

Ayayayayay, John... :chin:

Damn, it looked so good from outside... :-/

But finding the original pistol-grip-shifter makes up for that - at least a little, or...!?!

Doesn't look too bad. Amd had deck fillers I remember seeing them when I was looking for rust repair panels for a 71 superbee I was considering year one had the rest.
Luke,

Did Year One have the corner pieces? I only saw 68-70 ones, maybe I missed it. Yeah I spoke with AMD yesterday and they have the bottom filler but not the corner pieces.

Tim, yeah that what I thought when I first saw it too.

I ordered a metal brake today so I can make my own pieces if I can't find them. Also got some .023 welding wire coming so I can weld on the panels.

Any reccomendations for a rotisserie? I am looking at one from Auto Twirler that I like. There are a lot out there and I keep bouncing around trying to decide on one. thx

Been working on the car a little this week in prep to remove the drive train in the next few days. Well today I got my Eastwood Versa-Bend metal brake and I had to try it out. I got it to repair the rusted sections for the rear window. The metal is only rusted on the sides and bottom of the channel so I thought I'd give it a try to repair this. If it doesn't work I can just replace the whole panel but that requires drilling out a lot of spot welds and removing some other panels which would be a lot of work.

This metal brake allows me to make a 20" long channel that is the same shape of the existing one. So I got some 22ga sheet metal and tried to make the repair pieces. I will cut out the rusted sections and then weld the replacement pieces in and it should be good.

I'll actually do the repairs when I get the car on the rotisserie so that it will be easier to weld when the car is on the side. I can just stand and weld the pieces on instead of climbing on the car to do it. Finally made a decision and will get the Auto Twirler Rotisserie for this project.

Here are some pics of the piece that I made and I must say that it works really well and was really easy to make. I made the piece without being critical on the measurements and was impressed by the results. When I get more precise with the bends you will not be able to tell it was replaced.
