My Car
This is a 1 of 51, on the Marti Report 71 Sportsroof (Fastback) Mustang show car Grabber Green Mettallic Z code paint, 3W deluxe white interior, Matching #s 351 Cleveland and FMX auto transmission. This is a show quality car, that needs very little to be perfect. Updates are as follows: Edelebrock intake & Carb. Flowmaster Exhaust, Petronix electronic ignition, white face gauges with green LED'S, pioneer MP3/USB and much more.
This explains a lot:

While pulling the Mustang out of the garage, to get some pics of it parked next to are recently purchased 65 T-Bird (I will talk about that in another post) I noticed a Ninja Turtle air Freshener hanging from the mirror. After asking my wife what's the deal with the air Freshener? She proceeds to tell me:

(Wife) Its a teenage mutant ninja turtle, haven't u heard all the young kids at the shows saying that everytime they see the car?

(Me) No! I guess not

(Wife) Maybe because your always off looking and talking to other people about their cars

(Me) Have u heard anyone say Green Bay, or John Deere?

(Wife) a few, but then they say this is a really cool car, and start asking questions

(Me) Really? That Sucks!

(Wife) Why it gets a ton of attention, most people just say the first thing that pops in their head

At this point I'm thinking why does she always have to be so rational and make me feel like a child. Then I realize she is why at the age of 39, I have not got thrown in jail from fighting over something stupid, or said something I shouldn't have to the wrong person. She is always there to put a hand across my chest and say settle down "Big Guy" as I whisper whatever it is that was bothering me. With that being said, and me growing up a little more: I will refrain from getting upset about anybody saying Green Bay or whetever because of the crazy green/yellow theme of my car (it is what it is) and u can either love it or hate it, but either way it's mine!

Sounds like your wife is a keeper! Be proud of your car no matter what others may say! I think most, if not all, of the members here respect each others decisions on how they want their 71/73 to look. The main thing is to preserve them and keep them on the road. If they all looked the same that would be boring!

:goodpost:

If I got upset every time I get jagged about something I would never have a good day.

1. we are ford guys

2 we are mustang guys

3 we are the "fat pig" mustang guys (this one does bother me a little)

To each his own I say, and whatever puts a smile on your face and a warm spot in your heart makes me very proud for you. I have said it before "our cars are the only ones I know of that look great in any color (except pink of coarse) :dodgy:

It's a good thing us "men" have the rationality of women to keep us out of too much trouble (when we listen).

My eye can see the metallic in the green but I sure would like to see it in person cause I know pics cannot capture it right...maybe someday.

Thank you for the post. I have read but not commented on the other post.

Things that are different get noticed and most people will then make a comment, directly or indirectly. Take it as a compliment that your car is that one that gets noticed in a sea of normality. Enjoy the good and give grace to the others.

You've got a nice car. Unique, different, stands out, and gets noticed. Enjoy.

Ron, when I first saw pics of your car, my first thought was "that's an odd paint scheme". My second thought was "that car looks pretty damn nice with that paint scheme!"

I've also got an unusual scheme, and the most common comment I hear is "bumblebee", usually meaning in relation to the Transformers car which is a *gasp in horror* Chevy!

Also I get the odd "you must be a Tigers fan" (an Aussie Rules Football team), which always makes me smile a little.

I'm sure there's some avid Mustanger's out there who will look at the picture below and shake there heads and say "that hood scoop, c-stripe and 1990's spoiler just ain't right", but there's nothing that anybody could say that will dent my own enthusiasm for a car that is uniquely different than everybody else's!

Excellent thread. And Ron - you probably know I am more of a purist - but I had the same reaction to your car as Brett. And after looking at the hard work and attention to the details as you have built your car - I am impressed. You changed the green a little and it really pops. The stripe color is still growing on me.

You know me - if the stripes aren't black or argent... LOL

-And your wife is definitely a keeper - congrats.

Again good thread/posting.

My daily driver used to be a white 1990 5.0 LX. Even though it wasnt even a convertible I would always get the Vanilla Ice comments. Annoying to me but nobody meant it in a bad way I'm sure. I just ROLLED with it.
