Nuts dont fit the damn delux dash cover over the glove box!!

I bought brand new fasteners.  They don't fit and the stud is an odd size.  So I had to find a die that was close and make threads.  Once I finished I realized the thread size was rare as hell.  It took M9 fine thread.  Only nuts I could find were ARP.  With shipping it was $24!  What a drag!  I am running out of time.  I had one weekend left to finish the car.  It goes to my wife the following sat (June 24th) as a surprise.

Don't the factory fasteners thread onto the outside of the studs and cut they're own threads?

I can't remember for sure... but I know if you crank 'em on too tight, they're snap off easy enough.

Yes but my chrome studs were too small! I bought brand new nuts from AMK and they did not fit

known problem with the reproduction dash pieces. the studs are narrow on them.. go to a local home store like lowes they should have a selection of blind nuts in smaller sizes. that is where i got mine to fix the issue.

I actually got the ARP metric nuts and they fit very well. I had made thread as described earlier. The downside was they cost $20 for 4 nuts!

So what a weekend! I got the dash together. I had to remove the gauges for the 4th tie b/c I got the polarity wrong on the LED's. I got the seats and center console in. The flashers did not work and neither did the directional. I used the flashers that HIPO required with the ground. I did some research and found the polarity of the flasher input and the directionals matters. So what I did was make pigtails and reversed the polarity. The directionals and the flasher then worked perfectly
