New front drums not fitting correctly

The picture that Bentworker supplied appears to be correct. There is no drop down after the hub portion like there is on your drums. You can see the three sizes on this O'Reilly website, it doesn't specify the shoe width, but 1634DGS drum appears to be correct, when compared to the other two.

Hmm, that strikes those drums. Would be nice to find a Parts store with a set and measure them.

I'm thinking the ones from NAPA might be correct. The ones I originally bought were from NAPA but they aren't ribbed like those are. I'll have to go in and talk to them tomorrow.

I didn't do disc brakes yet just because its cheaper to completely redo all 4 drums then it would be just to convert the front to disc.

What still gets me though, is why does every site including NPD list front drums for the 73 as being 2 1/4" when the manual specifies 2 1/2"? This is interesting to me.

Well, I got the right ones from NAPA, they ordered the wrong ones first time around. Wish I woulda realized it awhile ago, but oh well. Lessons learned. The purpose of this car is to learn anyway.

Glad you got it sorted out, anyway. Did they take back the wrong drums?
