My first restomod was a 71 Corvette. I did everything myself including body and paint. I "think" fibreglass is a little more forgiving for correct errors as compared to metal but I could be wrong. Anyway here is the process I followed and the products used:

All PPG

-Sand

-DP50 sealer

-K36 high build primer

-block sand

-K36

-block sand

-Base Coat

-Clear Coat

I dont plan on doing the BC\CC myself this time but do plan on doing the prep work myself. Does this process I used before good for following with the MACH? Same products or other recommendations?

Thanks

Wade

Hi Wade,

I would say yes, that's pretty much the way to go. Make sure you follow PPG's tech data sheets for application and product useage.

Also, IMO, i think fiberglass is harder to refinish from scratch, because it requires more filling and block sanding to get a nice straight panel finish.
