Power Steering Fluid

What is the correct power steering fluid for a 1972 351c 2v? My Haynes manual indicates that transmission fluid is appropriate, I am wondering if this ok and whether or not I should should go with this option.

Type F; always.

Ford has used ATF in power steering for years!

Then again you can always tell a ford by the sound of its steering pump.

Just had MeZapU(Mike) working on the 73. He pointed out the PS fluid I was going to add, should be Type F tranny fluid.

So now I'm running a mix of perviously added PS fluid and some of Mike's canned Type F. Which is apparrently OK.

Got some Type F dumped er' in and things are steering smoothly, on to the next Mustang project challenge....weird electrical gremlins....post forthcoming.
